We make bad choices, out of ignorance, incompetence or selfishness. If anything is learned from the fall of mankind in the Garden of Eden, it’s we choose wrongly even when the conditions are paradise. We are not good at making the best choices. This is true in our scripture reading today. God sends the prophet Samuel to a small town of Bethlehem to choose the next king of Israel because God has rejected Saul as king. In this story we discover the wisdom on allowing God to choose for us and in doing so, our choices will be anointed.
