Whether it’s incorporated into story, marketing, or an attitude, the underdog motif has become an effective tool in shaping our perception. This is what makes our scripture reading today so powerful and popular, it is the original underdog story. David and Goliath is told to children at church as the greatest Sunday school story ever told. But what if I told you the David and Goliath story is not really about the underdog inside you but about your cowardly dog that shows itself in the face of difficulty. What if I told you this story should really be titled Saul and Goliath.
